It seems there has been a change on how releases are done, and that hardback books, at least for this release of the Endtimes Book IV, will no longer be shipped out to your local shops. Instead they will be on a mad dash to get them from the Games Workshop webstore.

This does not mean that you will not be able to get the books anymore, it just means that you will be forced to get a softcover release. Of course if you are fast enough, and get to the webstore quickly, you will still be able to get the hardcover version.

Now in the long run this sounds alright, but the primary issue with this is, Why not wrap up the Endtimes in hardcover before switching over to this? Many people would like their collection of books to all be the same type. Of course I am assuming based on the past that hardcovers will only be available while supplies last (notably a few hours in a lot of cases).

So what do you think of this?

This is being reported in many places, and here one of the reports on what is going on.

My local store used to get about 30 hardbacks of end times for the previous 3 releases.  Owner just gave everyone a heads up GW has dropped that number down quite a bit.  They will be Direct only from here on out. Paperback and limited edition is unaffected.

I surmise they are still woefully under-supplied for demand and trying to limit availability in favor of GW front stores.
