The covers are here, finally you can get a quick look at what these books are going to look like. Not only that, but look whats in the battleforce for Daemons. Nice looking cover for 40k ( I like it much better than the one for fantasy, but that is just my opinion.)

These by now are making their rounds everywhere, so now you can see for yourself what is in the battleforce.

  1. That 40k artwork is fantastic and that battleforce is one of few boxes in recent times that remotely resembles a decent-sized starting army.

    1. ^This. £15 for the Khorne Herald, £30 for the new codex, and £70 (I think) for the battleforce. A decent sized starting army for less than £150? Good God, what is this?
Games Workshop, I congratulate you on making something appealing price wise. I don't think I've ever said that before.

    2. Very proud of GW on this one. That not only looks like a good sized army, but depending on the new rules, a balanced one.

    3. Hopefully Nurglings will serve a purpose outside of an epidemius list in this codex

  2. Those are nice, but why does Khorne get all the love on book covers nowadays.

    1. Because GW are obviously Man U fans.

    2. Khorne's kind of the "vanilla space marine" of the daemon world.

    3. Khorne is supposedly the most powerful of the Chaos Gods so more love for them.

    5. Khorne is probably the poster boy for Daemons purely because looks most like the "traditional" (actually only since the Middle Ages, but there you go) imagery of the Devil of Abrahamic religions, really hammering the point home to even the most dense of potential buyers that these guys are teh EEVUL dudes and that the universe is GRIMDARK.

    6. Nurgle is the only winner because in the end, everything decays! :P

      Delete
    7. unless you are a being of the warp. they dont.

Anyway, everything spills blood or causes rage and voilence at some point in their lives in the grimdark.

      Delete
    8. If everything decays, how did anything ever evolve, let alone start off?

Change is the only true constant, and Tzeentch is the the true god above all others.

    9. And everything desires something, if only on a basic level of survival. The more complex being the more needs, more desires. Also more pain.

Slaanesh is as much essential as any other Chaos God.

Not a fan of Khorne myself but this cover is rad. 40k one I mean. Fantasy one is just ok.

    10. But all this fighting over the gods ultimately causes RAGE!!!
Blood for the blood god? :P

    11. @Nyarlathotep
I have been a Tzeentch puritan for 20 years and that is the dumbest thing I have ever read.

You basically just said "if everything gets born, how does it die?"

Please explain how that isn't retarded.

      Delete
    12. @Riandro You can't have Chaos or the Warp with out life itself as the warp depends on the existence of sentience in the universe. So when life eventually dies out, Nurgle is last one standing. Mwah haha!

It only dawned on me after reading the first realms of Chaos book as it mentions it in there. It also notes Nurgle as being the weakest god (boo!), but ultimately the strongest at same time because what he stands for will be the only thing left in the end.

  3. I assume available from the week after the 23rd?

Be interesting. Chum and I were talking about the new thirster rumours and he had a bowel movement worrying about them. Again though, a shame no new greater daemons.

But, that cover really is glorious.

  4. Wow I do love those covers, The 40k one is my fave. Battalion is nice also. might buy it to bolster my ranks. Never used seekers either but always liked the models and god they have Nurgle covered in it this time.

  6. One would think Khorne bloodletters might lift x)

Pretty nall arms considering the size of the sword and their ANGER.

    1. The do in the current one also. Was bloody Nurgle they left out. Made up for it this time though. Nice one GW.

    2. I would have liked four mono-God Battleforces and a mixed one, some part of my soul dies when I see a mixed Tzeentch/Nurgle or Khorne/Slaanesh force.

      Delete
    3. @Nurgle Burgers: relief is due to a post on the previous daemon article here claiming to know the Battleforce contents and it didn't list Tzeentch. I was bummed myself Nurgle have had to miss out on Plastic kits for so long!
@Knight of Infinite Resignation: I know what you mean, but I guess it's more practical to have a single mixed force... Don't know what I'd do with the Seekers personally (Khorne for me!)

  8. Wow, about $145 worth of minis for $115....GW actually bundled with a price reduction like the old days?

    1. Battleforces always had price reduction. You're thinking about the "one-click collections".

      Delete
    2. Yep starter sets usually are nicely priced, its the GW equivalent of "first one is free".

      Delete
    3. Ah yes, you are correct.... just not used to seeing "savings"....lol.

      Delete
    4. Well, usually the starter sets contain a unit that sells super slow. So, in effect, they're selling you something you don't want, and three things you do want, at a discount.

They're not as good a deal as they might seem, usually. Of course, SOME people do want that slow selling unit, and some people will end up saving money even if they only want the other three. They're not bad, by any means.

    7. Everything they sell costs less money than they sell it for, that's profit!

  11. Nurgle in a battleforce, does that mean plastic plague bearers....

    1. Plastic plague bearers came out with the WD Daemons supplement a few months ago

    2. Plague bearers have been in plastic for a little while now, I think they got changed when the slaneshii chariots came out

    3. Seriously? Plague Bearers have been plastic for a while now.

    4. Looks like you were "Late-o" to the party on that one!

    5. There are plastic nurglings too if it interests you :)

  12. I'll have to check out the army book to determine if I want to use Daemons as my new fantasy army. Otherwise I'll just have to settle for using Bloodletters as Marauders.

    ReplyDelete
  13. That's the best hard-cover artwork I've seen from Games Workshop so far on a codex/army book by far (the Chaos Daemons codex). Amazing! The Fantasy one is great too!

  14. Looks a bit biased in the way of Khorne to me, but still looks really good. The battle force is perfect in my opinion.

    1. God damn, I am sorry. I try to be civil and everything, but wtf. No shit the cover of the book that has only Khorne on it is a little Khorne bias. Does it shock you to find out water is wet? But you know what? I am *purely* tzeentch and... who give a fuck?

      Delete
    2. You sound like you should be a Khorne player instead drew. Do you hear the voices too?! :P

  15. Tbh I much prefer the art style of the 40K codexes to the warhammer army books.

The csm dark angel and now daemon codexes have all had amazing covers. Can't wait to see the eldar and tau covers!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Im with you on the eldar one especially. (I just bought an eldar army)

      Delete
    2. Here's hoping that the eldar cover is a Wraithlord skewering some big daemon/tyranid/monster and a farseer putting up a barrier to deflect bullets. :-D

      Delete
    3. And that was about all that was amazing about those dexes :/

      Delete
    4. Warlord, are you positive about anything? I'm pretty sure the only thing I saw you be positive about in the past, was when everyone was arguing about codex release dates, and you were adamant that Dark Angels would release before CSM.

      Delete
    5. Well, I might have to agree with him a bit about the CSM codex.

The cover art for CD looks great! Can't wait for the codex release! Will it be the 23rd, or the fist Saturday of March?

  16. The books look amazing. I hope they didnt nerf the content.

  17. Im a retard when it comes to buying 40k, so ill buy the dex. I just pray you can still play the army without chariots, cuz they are fugly.

    1. I feel you. The tzeentch burning chariot looks like its straight out of The Little Mermaid with all the coral. I would never think that my favorite chariot would be the Slaneesh one.

  18. Alright Alright cool, but where is greater daemon pics Q_Q I'm dying to see if they have a new GUO sculpture or not.

    ReplyDelete
  19. If only the new models looked as good as the book artwork...

    ReplyDelete
  20. That battleforce is a bit of a mixed bag, daemons from every god. Perhaps it means we won't see daemonic animosity after all?
